The Bangladesh High Commission in Brunei Darussalam observed the 53rd ‘Glorious Independence Day and National Day of Bangladesh’ at its chancery in Kampong Tanah Jambu on Tuesday.
High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Brunei Darussalam Nahida Rahman Shumona was present along with guests and members of the local Bangladesh community.
The observance was held with reverance as the high commissioner and Bangladeshi diplomatic officers and staff paid tribute to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, also known as Bangladesh’s ‘Father of the Nation’. The gathering also observed a minute’s silence in memory of martyrs of the Bangladeshi liberation war.
The high commissioner also read out messages from the Bangladesh president, prime minister and foreign minister for the occasion. – Lyna Mohamad
