Local Strongman athlete Abdul Malik Al-Mukkaramah bin Haji Mohd Yusof reached a new milestone in his career after setting a new Axle Deadlift Static Monster World Record during the RPE7 Static Monster World 2023 x Donuts and Deadlift at the Iron Street Gym recently.
The leading strength athlete recorded a total of 347 kilogrammes (kg) to eclipse the previous mark of 310kg set by Britain’s Daniel Jay in the under-70kg category last year.
Meanwhile, local athlete and fellow competitor Pengiran Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Kamalrudzaman set a new national record in Axle Deadlift Static Monster with a total of 365kg.
Abdul Malik also emerged winner of the men’s under-70kg category while Pengiran Abdul Aziz won the men’s under-90kg category.
Other winners also included Haji Houeri in the men’s open, Nadya in the women’s open, Rifaie in the men’s under-105kg category and Ardinin in the men’s under-80kg category.
For the Donuts and Deadlifts: Maxout Deadlift Last Man Standing event, Ridhwan clinched the men category title while Amira won the women category. – Fadhil Yunus
