Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) students brought joy to special needs children at Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam during the Little Champions Day event on Friday.
The event featured sports activities aimed at fostering a sense of belonging and inclusivity in line with the school’s theme, ‘Unlocking Potential, Empowering Differences’. Project manager Dayangku Nur Hayati Amali binti Pengiran Omar Ali expressed pride in organising the event, which celebrated the courage and resilience of the students through fun sports activities.
She also highlighted that the event served as a platform to raise awareness on Pusat Ehsan’s new special needs school and promote equal educational opportunities for all children.
On behalf of the UBD students and sponsors, Dayangku Nur Hayati Amali presented a certificate and donation to Pusat Ehsan, received by Board of Trustees member Audrey Choo Wah and deputy principal of Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam School Ashley Khoo.
The event included fun activities such as a warm-up session, freeze dance, sack race, ball on a spoon race, hula hoop pass and creative activities. Around 120 participants, including students, staff and volunteers, joined in, promoting teamwork, creativity and physical well-being.
Assistant Professor of chemical and process engineering from the Faculty of Integrated Technologies, UBD Dr Hazwani Suhaimi was also present. – James Kon
