The Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe) handed BND400 fines to two individuals for littering in public areas.

The department said one individual was caught disposing trash in an open field of Kampong Batu Marang, while the other littered at a car park near the Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Bridge.

The individuals were given seven days to settle the fines. The failure to do so will result in their cases being brought to court.

If found guilty, a fine between BND1,000 and BND3,000 will be levied for the first offence; and a fine between BND3,000 and BND9,000 and imprisonment of up to six months, or both, for subsequent offences. – Daniel Lim
