A man has been issued a BND300 compound fine by the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe) for littering in a bush area at Kampung Salambigar on December 4.
The offender, identified as Wnefredo Celestial Obre, was fined under Chapter 12(1) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act (Amendment) 2021.
He has been given seven days to pay the fine. Failure to do so will result in the case being referred to court, where penalties range from a fine of BND1,000 to BND3,000 for a first offence. Repeat offences carry harsher penalties, including fines of BND3,000 to BND9,000, imprisonment of up to six months, or both.
JASTRe reiterated its commitment to maintaining environmental cleanliness and urged the public to act responsibly by disposing of waste in designated areas to protect and preserve the environment. – Daniel Lim
