Libraries join SDG symposium

Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali’s (UNISSA) library held a sustainable development goals (SDG) symposium as part of the university’s 14th Hafl Al-Takharruj celebration.

Acting Rector of UNISSA Dr Haji Arman bin Haji Asmad was the guest of honour at the event.

The keynote speaker from Sabah presented insights on how ‘The Green Library’ can contribute to the SDGs, offering a model that could be emulated by other libraries. The symposium also featured five presentations from UNISSA Library, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) Library, Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) Library and Politeknik Brunei Library. Approximately 30 participants, including librarians and 17 Nadi Maktabah club members, attended the event.

The symposium, aimed to raise awareness among local librarians on the critical role libraries play in implementing the values of equality and well-being, supported by the SDGs within their management, services and facilities. – Fadley Faisal
