Lessons on Brunei history for teachers

A briefing on research, conservation and preservation methods was delivered by history curator Mohamad Hazim bin Haji Hashim on the Menjejaki Makam Kesultanan Brunei organised by the Brunei History Centre, in collaboration with the Temburong Arabic Preparatory School at the History Gallery of Brunei History Centre.

The programme was also aimed to know the tombs of Sultans of Brunei, which hold significant historical values and importance about the Sultanate’s history.

The programme also raised awareness, understanding, and appreciation among the community on the values of Brunei’s history and heritage.

One aspect highlighted during the programme was the conservation methods and processes of preserving the tombs.

The event also aimed to instil a sense of love and appreciation for the architectural features, carving arts, decorative designs, as well as Jawi writings found on the tombs, which is an integral part of Brunei’s cultural heritage.

Brunei History Centre Principal Dr Haji Muhammad Hadi bin Muhammad Melayong said the programme aligns with the centre’s role and responsibilities in disseminating information and historical facts derived from research and studies conducted within the country.

The programme also aimed to contribute to the establishment of the Brunei History Centre as a centre of excellence for Brunei History and Sultanate.

The programme was attended by 22 participants that comprising Temburong Arabic Preparatory School teachers and staff members.

Participants also visited Brunei Sultanate’s Tomb in Kampong Kianggeh and the Royal Mausoleum. – Rokiah Mahmud
