I received a call from an unknown number yesterday morning from a man claiming to be a staff of a local bank informing me to clarify on an online purchase I supposedly had made.

Aware of an advisory published in the Weekend Bulletin reminding the public of phone scams which have gone rampant recently, I denied making any online purchase. What made me more convinced that the claim was not legit was that I did not have any account with the said bank.

I am just appalled with the tactics used by these scammers who had the audacity to even try to make me fall into their trap even with the recent public advisory.

I tried to cut him off but he was very persistent in asking for my banking details, PIN number and personal information.

I was lucky that I was made aware of the situation but it made me think of those who are not fortunate and gullible to these scammers like senior citizens for example.
