Less than 200 COVID-19 cases reported: MOH

The number of daily recorded COVID-19 cases was below 200 for the first time since the start of the third wave of infections according to Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar at a press conference yesterday.

The minister said 187 new COVID-19 cases were reported – 161 from antigen rapid tests (ART) and 26 from 752 RT-PCR laboratory tests performed in the past 24 hours – raising the total number of confirmed cases to 139,465.

One case with COVID-19 passed away in the past 24 hours, however the cause was not due to the virus, said the minister, who offered condolences to the deceased’s family on behalf of the Ministry of Health and the people of Brunei Darussalam.

The minister said 521 cases have recovered, bringing the number of active cases to 2,064 where 43 cases are being treated in hospitals and the remainder are undergoing self-isolation at home.

One Category 5 case is receiving treatment at the intensive care unit, and no cases are in Category 4.
