Legislative Council members yesterday visited several tourism sites in Brunei-Muara District.
The visits were planned by the Tourism Development Department under the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) to elevate Brunei Darussalam as a leading tourist destination while preserving the cultural and natural heritage, promoting sustainability, and contributing to the country’s socio-economic development.
Permanent Secretary at the MPRT Hajah Tutiaty binti Haji Abdul Wahab and senior officers from the ministry joined the visit.
The delegates first visited the Brunei Darussalam Maritime Museum which is a repository of maritime history containing relics of maritime artefacts and handwork from various eras.
The members then headed to the Malay Technology Museum that showcased traditional technologies used by residents of Kampong Ayer and local communities living on land.
The delegates also proceeded to the Queen Elizabeth II jetty to board the MV Sentosa ship to explore interesting places along the Brunei River. – James Kon
