Legislative Council (LegCo) member Yang Berhormat Abdul Aziz bin Haji Hamdan emphasised the need for further development of artificial intelligence (AI) in Brunei, particularly in enhancing the quality of government services such as customer service and smart car parking systems.
He said this during the 21st session of the LegCo meeting yesterday.
Yang Berhormat Abdul Aziz highlighted that His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s titah was meaningful and carries deep understanding. It serves as a source of encouragement for LegCo members to continuously enhance their capacity in presenting insightful ideas and contributing to the nation’s progress.
“We welcome any changes towards strengthening the council, including the formulation of a Code of Ethics for National Assembly Members,” he said. Yang Berhormat Abdul Aziz said such measures reflect His Majesty’s vision to improve the integrity and effectiveness of the National Assembly, ensuring it remains relevant and highly respected. He urged the people of Brunei Darussalam to view this positively as a mechanism for collective progress in realising His Majesty’s aspirations.
On the issue of national productivity transformation, Yang Berhormat Abdul Aziz reiterated His Majesty’s call for economic diversification across all sectors to reduce dependency on oil and gas revenues.
This includes expanding socio-economic and business activities led by local entrepreneurs, he said.
