Legislative Council (LegCo) members visited the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD) yesterday to understand the roles and functions of the department. The visit was for LegCo members to observe the weather systems in preparation for the upcoming session.
The first stop was the department’s headquarters at Kampong Anggerek Desa, where the delegation was briefed by its Acting Director Rokiah binti Haji Angas.
They also took a closer look the weather observation instrument at a national automatic weather stations.
They then visited the Weather Forecast Centre and the Meteorological Garden at the Brunei International Airport, to observe the processes as well as toured the facilities in weather observation and forecast.
The delegation concluded the visit at the recently-launched Doppler Weather Surveillance Radar (DWSR) building. Also present was Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha. – James Kon
