LegCo members briefed on e-gov, cybersecurity

Legislative Council members (LegCo) recently visited the E-Government National Centre (EGNC) and Cyber Security Brunei (CSB) to exchange ideas regarding the digital transformation in the government sector and look more closely at the nation’s ability to combat cyber threats.

The LegCo delegation met with EGNC Acting Director Pengiran Amirul Hayat bin Pengiran Haji Yussof during the visit to the centre, and was briefed on its achievements, efforts, plans and services.

The delegation also visited the Network Operation Centre to look at the monitoring work of EGNC shared services, which operates 24 hours daily.

During the visit to CSB, the national cybersecurity agency, the delegation met with Interim Cyber Security Commissioner Shamsul Bahri bin Haji Kamis and was briefed on CSB services and operations.

The delegation viewed an exhibition on CSB’s outreach and awareness programmes, as well as learnt more about a digital identity application that uses blockchain technology.

The LegCo members also visited the National Digital Forensics Lab (NDFL) to gain a deeper understanding of tools used by digital forensic analysts to work on electronic evidence. – Azlan Othman
