The 13th ASEAN-AIPA Leaders’ Interface Meeting held in conjunction with the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits was held on Wednesday at the National Convention Centre in Vientiane, Laos. The Legislative Council (LegCo) was represented by LegCo member Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji lbrahim.
The ASEAN-AIPA Leaders’ Interface meeting is an annual summit where ASEAN heads of government and AIPA member state Parliaments meet to foster relationships, strengthen cooperation and enhance cohesion.
Prior to the 13th ASEAN-AIPA Leaders’ Interface Meeting, AIPA member states convened a preparatory meeting. Brunei Darussalam contributed to the drafting of the AIPA message, which was subsequently approved unanimously.
At the 13th ASEAN-AIPA Leaders’ Interface Meeting, the president of the National Assembly of Laos, as the 45th president of AIPA, presented the AIPA message to ASEAN heads of government and AIPA national delegations.
Several ASEAN heads of government acknowledged and responded to the AIPA message, recognising AIPA’s valuable contributions to realising ASEAN’s goals.
