As part of the company’s continued initiative to help develop and support the next generation of professional inspectors, Germanischer Lloyd Offshore and Industrial Services (B) Sdn Bhd (Trading as DNV) conducted a sharing session at the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) Jefri Bolkiah Campus (JBC), Kuala Belait yesterday.
Eighteen students of the HNTec in Plant Engineering and their instructors learnt more about Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) from the DNV professional inspectors.
The DNV contingent set up booths to discuss and focus on the forms of NDT used in the field including dye penetrant testing, ultrasonic testing, radiography testing, magnetic particle testing, and visual testing. The students were encouraged to speak to the inspectors in their NDT fields to learn more about the importance of the tests, but also to perform them to get a hands-on experience on how NDT is conducted in the field.
Previously, DNV conducted a similar sharing session at IBTE Sultan Bolkiah Campus.
The sessions represent the company’s corporate social responsibilities in giving back to the community.
