Korban teaches the need to sacrifice to help the less fortunate and promote an inclusive society said the chairperson of a donation project for orphans, poor and destitute as well as single mothers.

The Amal Impian Cahaya Iman project hosted a donation ceremony for 55 orphans, less fortunate families and single mothers registered at the Community Development Department (JAPEM) and the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB).

The founder and event chairperson Hajah Faridah binti Haji Mohd Taufik said Hari Raya Aidiladha is not just about celebration, but also Korban and how it teaches celebrats to be grateful for Allah the Almighty’s blessings.

She said it also encourages understanding of the situation for the less fortunate, and to engage with them through good deeds, as to not exclude them from society.

The event was held in Kampong Serusop, in conjunction with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 76th birthday celebration.

The ceremony also saw the distribution of Korban meat.

A stage performance was also showcased by a group of orphans, who were part of the recipients.
