A two-day religious programme for Muslim converts came to a close at Kampong Melilas in Belait District yesterday.
The Mukhayyam Islamiy programme, organised by the Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) and the Islamic Da’wah Centre, included activities such as recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and ablution guidance, Sunnat Tarawih and Qiyam prayers, hiking, a cleaning campaign in a longhouse and congregational prayers.
The programme also allowed KUPU SB students practice lectures and public speaking.
Around 27 KUPU SB students led by KUPU SB Associate Professor Dr Mohd Shahril bin Ahmad Razimi took part in the programme.
KUPU SB Ra’es Associate Professor Dr Abdul Nasir bin Haji Abdul Rani, the guest of honour, presented certificates and donations to 18 Muslim convert families as well as programme committee members.
Dr Abdul Nasir said social activities, such as Mukhayyam Islamiy, can be used as an effective communication and training tool for the community in rural areas.
