Leading the way in healthcare

Collaboration and continuous improvement is crucial in healthcare, said Gleneagles JPMC Sdn Bhd Quality Manager Dr Nur Zahiah binti Zubir.

She said this as Gleneagles JPMC secured first place in the Clinical Excellence category at the 9th IHH Quality Summit, from September 27-28 in Mumbai, India. Competing against over 80 leading hospitals from 10 countries, it was recognised for its quality improvement project, Operation Clean Cut: Reducing Surgical Site Infections.

The award was accepted by a local staff nurse from the operating theatre Azizulaliff bin Mumin, who presented the project on behalf of the Gleneagles JPMC team. He received the recognition from Managing Director and Chief Executive of Fortis Healthcare, India Dr Ashutosh Raghuvanshi, alongside Gleneagles JPMC Chief Operating Officer ‘Izzul Hamzi bin Haji Jomari, Dr Nur Zahiah and Gleneagles JPMC Senior Quality Improvement Officer Danial Hakim bin Zainal Abidin.

“This recognition at the IHH Quality Summit is a profound testament to our unwavering dedication to clinical excellence and patient-centred care,” said ‘Izzul Hamzi.

The award highlights the hospital’s dedication to providing top-quality healthcare, ensuring high standards of patient care and promoting progress through innovation and clinical governance.

The winning project was launched to tackle surgical site infections in cardiac surgery, particularly coronary artery bypass grafting patients. Key interventions, including updated SSI prevention protocols, staff training and regular audits, reduced infection rate from 7.7 to 0.7 per cent, improving patient outcomes and shortening recovery times.
