ANN/THE KOREA HERALD – Le Sserafim’s latest title track “Hot” from the group’s fifth EP made a notable entry on global charts, debuting at No. 175 on Spotify’s Daily Top Song Global chart on Friday — becoming the first K-pop group to make the list this year.
According to the girl group’s agency, Source Music, on Saturday, “Hot” garnered over 1.43 million streams on Spotify within just one day of its release. The track ranked No. 9 on Spotify’s Daily Top Song chart in Korea, No. 14 in Hong Kong, No. 32 in Malaysia, No. 90 in Canada and No. 197 in the US, among a total of 10 regions. In particular, the song recorded 369,232 daily streams in the US, making up 26 per cent of the track’s total streams — the highest share among all countries.
Le Sserafim also performed well on iTunes charts worldwide.
As of 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, the EP reached No. 1 on iTunes Top Albums in Japan, Brazil, Chile, Mongolia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Indonesia, among 39 regions overall. The main song also ranked on the iTunes Top Songs chart in 27 countries, including Singapore, Hong Kong, and Japan.
On YouTube, the music video for “Hot” surpassed 10 million views within the first 24 hours of its release. As of Saturday at 10 a.m., the video had already reached 17.5 million views and continues to gain momentum.
“Hot” is a pop track infused with rock and disco elements. The song’s lyrical and melodic approach contrasts sharply with the group’s previous title track “Crazy,” which leaned heavily on rap. The music video visually embodies this theme, following the five members as they embark on an adventurous journey to reclaim their freedom in a chaotic world.
During their comeback showcase in Seoul on Friday, Le Sserafim introduced their EP as one that captures a new side of the group.
“This album features a variety of songs, including the sentimental track ‘Hot,’ allowing us to showcase a fresh dimension of Le Sserafim,” member Yunjin said.
