VIENTIANE (XINHUA) – Laos received 2.6 million foreign visitors in the first eight months of 2024, up 19 per cent from 2.2 million over the same period last year.
From January to August, Thailand, Vietnam and China were the top sources of foreign tourists to Laos, the Lao Economic Daily reported yesterday.
Meanwhile, Laos saw a total of 2.3 million domestic travel trips in the eight months, an 84.2 per cent surge from the previous year.
Laos has generated approximately USD801 million in revenue from international tourists so far this year.
Laos’ Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism hopes that more than six million Lao and foreign tourists will visit Laos in 2024.
