    Lanterns brighten school’s Mid-Autumn Festival

Lanterns brightened the evening at Chung Hua Middle School Kuala Belait as it celebrated the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival on Saturday.

The night-time event marked the annual Chinese tradition, carrying a carnival-like atmosphere as students, parents and teachers celebrated the occasion with various games and activities.

This included a cha doa tea ceremony, fish scooping, riddles based on traditional Chinese poems and a wishing tree.

The highlight was the procession of lantern bearers carrying decorative lights in a parade around the school campus, adding to the festive atmosphere. The best lanterns were awarded prizes in a competition, with the top six receiving additional prizes from the To’Kong China Society.

A special prize from Vkoi Enterprise was also awarded for the most fish caught in the fish scooping activity. – Daniel Lim
