James Kon

The election of Lamunin village head in Mukim Lamunin, Tutong District took place yesterday at Balai Raya Kampong Lamunin.

The use of e-Undi PMKK app to cast the ballot began on September 21.

Acting Tutong District Officer Ajmin bin Haji Meludin said it was the third election of 2022 after the election of Mukim Lamunin Penghulu on February 6 and Kampong Kiudang and Kampong Padnunok village head on February 18.

He said the election is an opportunity for villagers to choose their leaders and residents to vote so that elected leaders are the choice of the people.

The only candidate for Lamunin village head is 52-year-old Royal Brunei Armed Forces veteran Saini bin Haji Othman.

Some 224 of 484 registered voters cast their votes. Some 28 villagers used e-Undi PMKK app, six used the tablet and 190 relied on ballot papers.

Some 213 voted for Saini, 10 against and one void.

Senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) and acting village heads in Mukim Lamunin were also present.

The result has been forwarded to the Board of Appointment, Discipline and Procedures for the Mukim Penghulu and Village Head at the MoHA.
