The Kampong Lambak Youth Association (PERBEKAL) received warm welcomes in Sarawakian cities of Sibu and Kuching during its Borneo tour that began on December 28, 2023.
PERBEKAL was welcomed in Sibu by Persatuan Melanau Sibu (PMS) with traditional dance and food.
There were speeches by PERBEKAL President Pengiran Haji Nordin bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud and Kuching Volunteer Organisation (PSK) Sibu Chairman Haji Abdul Karim bin Keprawi as well as an exchange of souvenirs.
PERBEKAL then visited Kuching and was welcomed by PSK Chairperson Zakiah binti Ahmat, Kuching Unity Recreation Club Chairperson Yazid bin Belon and Kampung Santubong Penghulu Haji Suhaili bin Kifli.
The visitors toured several historical sites during the three-day visit including Sultan Tengah Mausoleum. They also visited a kek lapis business and joined activities with non-governmental organisations.
Joining the visit were 40 PERBEKAL members including vice president Pengiran Mahari bin Pengiran Haji Md Tahir and vice president cum chairperson of PERBEKAL Women Bureau Siti Seriana binti Haji Md Yusof. – Lyna Mohamad
