Nine firefighters in two fire engines from the Lambak Kanan Fire Station rushed to a house after receiving a distress call over a kitchen fire on Friday.
According to the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD), the fire had already extinguished itself before they arrived at the scene.
The fire damaged the stove and a part of the kitchen. The cause of the fire and cost of damages are under investigation.
Firefighters disconnected the regulator and brought a dry powder fire extinguisher to ensure that the fire had been thoroughly put out.
In light of the incident, the FRD reminded the public to ensure their homes are equipped with fire extinguishers of the dry powder type, along with fire blankets and battery-operated smoke detectors.
“Installation of wiring and electrical equipment should be done by qualified technicians.
Electrical appliances must be switched off after use and ensure that the gas regulator is covered and unplugged when not in use,” it said.
