Labour survey from October 31-November 30

The Labour Department at the Ministry of Home Affairs will conduct its annual census of employer/employees, wages, earnings and work hours online via Business Reporting System (BRS) at www.business.mofe.gov.bn/SitePages/OBR.aspx.

The department seeks the cooperation of all business entities, private institutions, cooperatives, associations, clubs and statutory bodies operating in Brunei Darussalam, whether having foreign workers licences or only employing local workers, to provide information of workers, including employers, owners, managers, still working until October 30 in the census form provided on the website.

However, household and private services are exempted from completing the census, it said in a statement yesterday.

Guidelines on how to complete the census can also be downloaded from the website or at www.labour.gov.bn.

Information will be accepted between October 31 and November 30.

Under the provision of Section 3(1), Chapter 99 of the Employment Information Act 1974 all employers must fill in the annual census. Under Section 8(1) of the Act, any employer failing to provide correct information is liable to a BND2,500 fine and six-month imprisonment with additional BND50 fine each day, said the agency.
