The Government of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, through the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics (JPES) at the Ministry of Finance and Economy is conducting the Labour Force Survey (LFS) 2023 from October 16 to November 12.
LFS 2023 involves about 3,200 households throughout the country. It will be conducted using the computer- assisted personal interview (CAPI) approach whereby the survey officers will be using tablets during the face-to-face interview of selected households to facilitate the interview process.
The heads of the selected households are required to cooperate in preparing the information needed in advance to facilitate the interview such as the identity card number of each household member as well as other personal information including education and employment.
Selected households are advised to ensure that the survey officers conducting the interviews are officially appointed by JPES through authorised survey passes, appointment letters, identity cards and JPES official vest.
Results from the LFS 2023 will provide information for national socioeconomic planning, academia, researchers, students and the public for their needs and purposes.
LFS 2023 is conducted under the Statistics Act, Chapter 81 from the Laws of Brunei Darussalam.
Information from selected participating households collected during the survey will be kept strictly confidential and will be used for statistical purposes only.
In pursuant to Section 9 of the Statistics Act, failure or reluctance to give the required information or furnishing false particulars is an offence which carries a penalty of a fine of BND4,000.
