Labour Department inspects private education provider

The Labour Department inspected a private education provider in Kampong Anggrek Desa.

During an operation on November 26, as part of Operasi Siaga 266/2024, inspectors found two violations – eight local employees not provided written employment contracts; and a foreign worker employed as a teacher, performing administrative duties. Employers violating the Employment Order, 2009 may face a fine of up to BND1,000.

The failure to pay the fine may result in prosecution in court.

The Labour Department urged all employers to prioritise the well-being of their employees and to comply with the provisions of the Employment Order, 2009.

This includes providing written employment contracts and ensuring that foreign workers are employed in accordance with their designated roles. – Lyna Mohamad
