Laboratory staff, students learn about fire safety

Twenty officers and staff from the Department of Laboratory Services participated in a three-day fire marshal course at the Bandar Seri Begawan Fire Station, organised by the Public Relations Division of Operation ‘A’ Branch of the Fire and Rescue Department recently.

Participants learnt the importance of fire prevention and safety through theory and practical lessons such as knowing the causes of fire, understanding the correct course of action and systematic evacuation during a fire as well as the correct way to use a fire extinguisher and fire blanket.

Participants also took part in a fire drill at the station.

Meanwhile, in the Temburong District, 14 students and teachers from Senukoh Religious School visited the Operation ‘G’ Branch of Bangar Fire Station on Wednesday.

The group attended a short briefing by Bangar Fire Station Commander SO Ishraqi bin Haji Sidup on the tasks of firefighters before taking a closer look at firefighting equipments.

The visit concluded with an appreciation speech from Operation ‘G’ Branch Operation Officer SSFR Mohammad Zyakwan bin Awang Idris.
