Some 1,000 individuals from the Belait District received the kurnia peribadi (personal gift) from His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam at Pusat Insani, Seria yesterday.
His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik, acting as His Majesty’s personal representative, distributed the kurnia to the recipients.
Upon arrival, His Royal Highness was greeted by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar.
The event will continue today, with a total of 2,885 recipients receiving the kurnia this year.
Among the recipients, Adygapsa binti Md Tudin from Lumut said she arrived at 6am and it was her second time receiving the kurnia, adding that she planned to use the gift for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.
Md Zamree bin Abdullah, accompanied by his daughter Nursyifa Anisya, was also receiving the kurnia for the second time. He said they arrived early in the morning and planned to use the funds to purchase school supplies for Nursyifa Anisya.
The kurnia, provided in cash, exemplifies His Majesty’s generosity and care, and is especially timely as the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration approaches.
It brings joy and meaning to recipients, including those with special needs, orphans, the underprivileged, individuals facing financial difficulties, and those receiving monthly welfare assistance. – Daniel Lim
