A kueh jala class held on Saturday at the community hall of Kampong Mentiri received overwhelming response.
Twenty-five participants comprising single mothers, orphans and the Women’s Bureau of Kampong Mentiri Village Consultative Council (MPK Kampong Mentiri) joined the event as part of the Jiwaku Ikhlas charity project, organised by Kris Kamila Creation and Development and Security Committee of MPK Kampong Mentiri.
“The class provides an opportunity for single mothers and orphans to enrol and become more independent while injecting spirit and interest in making local delicacies,” said project founder Hajah Karmila binti Haji Sapar. Proceeds from the sale of kueh jala will be distributed to participants.
Acting Village Head of Zone II of RPN Kampong Mentiri Haji Nizam bin Haji Julaihi welcomed the initiative as it assists villagers in generating income. Saffron and CakesbyFaridah manager Datin Hajah Faridah binti Hanim was also present.
