Korban rites continue nationwide

Communities and organisations continue to celebrate Hari Raya Aidiladha throughout the nation, marking the occasion with religious ceremonies and sacrificial rites.

Yesterday, the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC) held a korban ceremony at the ministry, organised by the Land Transport Department.

Six buffaloes were sacrificed for the ceremony. A special religious lecture on korban was also held.

Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha oversaw the distribution of korban meat to 151 recipients, comprising underprivileged individuals from Mukim Berakas, orphans and personnel from MTIC and its departments.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) yesterday held a korban ceremony at the ministry, organised by the Immigration and National Registration Department.

Three buffaloes were sacrificed and the korban meat was distributed to asnaf from Mukim Berakas, participants of the ceremony and personnel of the MoHA and its departments.

Permanent Secretary (Safety and Welfare) at the MoHA Salminan bin Haji Burut, the guest of honour, distributed the korban meat.

A recitation of Takbir Hari Raya and a special lecture on korban was also held as part of the ceremony.

Yesterday, 269 residents in Mukim Kilanas received korban meat at a ceremony organised by the State Mufti’s Office and Royal Brunei Airlines (RB).

Six buffaloes and two cattle were sacrificed for the ceremony, and was handed over to the heads of families by State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned and RB Chief Executive Officer Captain Sabirin bin Haji Abdul Hamid.

Meanwhile, yesterday, the Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI) held a korban ceremony in Kampong Long Mayan, organised by the Youth Religious Programme Secretariat and the Asy-Syahadah Muallaf Youth Group in collaboration with the Tutong District Dakwah Unit and Hajah Aminah Religious Hall Committee.

The ceremony was carried out under the Belia Muallaf Prihatin 5.0 programme, and included a religious talk on korban.

Five buffaloes were sacrificed, and the korban meat distributed to 55 recipients. Two goats were slaughtered for aqiqah.

Another korban ceremony yesterday afternoon in Kampong Pulaie was organised by the PDI’s Muallaf Development Division in collaboration with the Nurul Islam Association (PNI) and the Converts Guidance Class for the Brunei-Muara District. The ceremony, the centre’s 10th ­­­Sunnat Korban ceremony, saw two buffaloes sacrificed and the korban meat distributed to 30 recipients.

PDI Director Haji Abdul Rajid bin Haji Mohd Salleh was the guest of honour for both events.

The Syariah Courts, State Judiciary Department held its korban ceremony yesterday. Thirty representatives of asnaf families from Mukim Tamoi, Mukim Sungai Kebun, Mukim Kota Batu, Mukim Lumapas and Mukim Kilanas received korban meat from Chief Syar’ie Judge Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar.

Meanwhile, yesterday Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) hosted a korban ceremony at the Pehin Khatib Abdullah Mosque in Kampong Kulapis.

BIBD sacrificed four cows and distributed the korban meat to 70 recipients, comprising underprivileged individuals and family members of BIBD Advocating Life-Long Learning for an Aspiring Future (BIBD ALAF) programme.

The bank also contributed 100 copies of Surah Yassiin books to the mosque.

Assistant State Mufti (Buhuth) Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mazanan bin Haji Yusof was the guest of honour.
