The Pengiran Muda ‘Abdul Mateen (PMAM) Mosque Takmir Committee held a Korban ceremony at its compound in Kampong Mulaut yesterday.
Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan distributed the sacrificial meat to 39 recipients. Four buffaloes were sacrificed, contributed by 28 participants.
A similar event was also held in Kampong Sungai Teraban organised by the village consultative council (MPK) and mosque takmir committee.
Acting Belait District Officer Mohamad Yassin bin Haji Ahmed presented over 300 packs of Korban meat.
Acting Village Head and MPK Chairman Zaini bin Haji Kaderi was also present.
Forty korban meat packs were distributed to the less fortunate, 20 to those involved in preparing the packs, and the rest to village residents.
In Kampong Jerudong, the Brunei Gas Carriers Sdn Bhd (BGC) collaborated with the village’s MPK and mosque takmir committee members to distribute Korban meat packs.
A total of 10 buffaloes were scarificed and distributed to 71 less fortunate families and the public.
Pehin Orang Kaya Lela Pahlawan Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohd Jaafar bin Haji Abdul Aziz attended as the guest of honour, joined by Acting Village Head of Kampong Jerudong ‘A’ Haji Kharul Azmi bin Haji Lakat and MPK Jerudong members.
BGC’s Acting Managing Director Captain Abdul Mateen bin Abdurrahman Liew, People Manager Mohd Khairol Amilin bin Haji Maidin, QHSSE Manager Captain Mohammad Shahbirin bin Haji Ibrahim and Information Technology Manager Pengiran Norbailah binti Pengiran Haji Sulaiman were also present.
A Korban ceremony was also held at Suri Seri Begawan Raja Pengiran Anak Damit Mosque Kampong Madang/Manggis yesterday.
Guest of honour and mosque takmir committee advisor Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong distributed Korban meat packs to 43 individuals comprising underprivileged families and orphans.
The remaining Korban meat packs were handed out to the public by the guest of honour, Acting Village Head of Kampong Manggis I and Manggis II Omar bin Alli and mosque takmir commitee members.
A total of eight buffaloes were sacrificed during the ceremony.
Meanwhile, six buffaloes were sacrificed during a Korban ceremony at the Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Mosque in Kampong Sungai Akar yesterday.
The Korban meat packs were distributed by mosque takmir committee patron Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Haji Apong and Mosque Affairs Officer Muhammad Tsuufiy bin Haji Abdul Wahab to 130 Asnaf families.
Meanwhile, Hajah Jauyah binti Tahir family also conducted their own family Korban event at her residence in Kampong Penapar, Tutong District yesterday.
Two buffaloes were sacrificed and the meat distributed to the poor and other villagers.
