Undergraduates represent the torch of the nation and country, even bearing one for themselves. They are carriers of knowledge whether it is knowledge of the world or the hereafter, State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned said during an event for Bruneians studying in Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia recently.
“The student is the torch bearer. What kind of torch do they bring? The answer is knowledge,” said the state mufti.
“Yes, knowledge is fuel. Whether it is the knowledge of the world or the hereafter, students need to have both skills.”
He added, “We all know the knowledge of the world. As long as it’s not magic, all the knowledge of the world is needed. The knowledge of languages, mathematics, modern medicine, agriculture are necessary.”
”Religious knowledge or the knowledge of the hereafter is strictly necessary,“ Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz said. “An example of knowledge of the hereafter is Al-Quran. All Muslims must be able to read Al-Quran.”
“Muslims are required to perform prayer. During prayer we read Al-Quran verses. Being good at reading Al-Quran is a great reward.”
The state mufti added, ”I want to tell everyone to revive religion in each of you. Don’t let religion wither, but water it with good deeds.” – Fadhil Yunus
