Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB), in collaboration with the Commercial Crime Investigation Division of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), conducted a series of ‘Know Your Banknotes’ awareness talks to approximately 170 participants from government agencies; financial institutions such as banks, money changers and remittance companies; private sector; as well as retailers recently.
The talk aimed to raise awareness and understanding on the Currency Order, 2004.
Attendees also learnt about the security features of the different denominations, and ways to identify the authenticity of the banknotes.
Following BDCB’s presentation, the RBPF provided insights on measures to be taken should individuals be in possession of counterfeit, or suspected counterfeit, currency.
Towards efforts to ensure public confidence in the Brunei currency, as well as tackle issues surrounding counterfeit banknotes, BDCB carries out various initiatives on the security features on banknotes and coins. BDCB is also responsible to ensure the quality of the banknotes and coins are fit for circulation.
BDCB remains committed to the financial stability of Brunei Darussalam and to safeguarding the country’s financial system, as well as the interests of financial consumers.
