A 31-member delegation from Kinmen County Public Affairs Committee visited Teng Yun Temple in the heart of Bandar Seri Begawan yesterday.
Teng Yun Temple Chairman Lee Eng Ching and Deputy Chairman Tiah Eng Beng as well as the temple’s executive committee members welcomed the delegation led by Hung Chu Seng. Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Brunei Darussalam Representative Vanessa Shih accompanied the delegation.
Lee gave a briefing of the temple that has over 100 years of history. It was relocated to the current location in 1960 and renovated in 2021.
Shih commented on the close ties between Teng Yun Temple and Kinmen County.
She said people from the county helped build the temple and there have been regular people-to-people exchanges between the temple and Kinmen County.
Hung said this is the delegation’s first visit to Brunei in seven years and expressed hope that Bruneians who trace ancestry to Kinmen will visit Taiwan.
The delegation is in Brunei for five days. – James Kon
