The Personal Contact programme was held yesterday for residents of Kampong Kilanas and Kampong Jangsak at Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Mosque in Kampong Kilanas to keep participants abreast with government policies and current issues.
Acting Senior Information Officer Saadiatul Nur Aqilah binti Haji Jaman led the delegation and spoke about mental health issues and the growing need for attention.
Saadiatul Nur Aqilah said taking early preventive measures involves being aware of one’s own well-being as well as the well-being of those around them. “It is important to be attentive and supportive listeners when family members or friends are experiencing stress and depression,” she said.
She said individuals dealing with stress and depression should cultivate patience and trust by engaging in acts of worship and face problems with the help of others.
One recommended resource for immediate assistance is Talian Harapan 145, a helpline staffed by trained mental health experts who maintain strict confidentiality, she added.
The Personal Contact programme aims to improve relations between the government and the people by providing information and managing community programmes that can contribute to the development and progress of mukims and villages.
The programme continued with a dialogue on issues raised by the villagers relating to infrastructure and public facilities.
Kampong Kilanas and Kampong Jangsak Village Head Haji Mohammad Ameerolbahrynee bin Haji Abdul Hamid said he welcomed the programme organised by the Information Department as a platform for dialogue and exchange of views in efforts to progress the well-being of the people of the Sultanate.
