Some 170 students – 43 male and 127 female – participated in a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony at the Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) Mosque yesterday in conjunction with the Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) Convocation 2024.
Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid, as the deputy chair of UTB Council, the guest of honour, led the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah.
The ceremony continued with participants reciting Surah Adh-Dhuha to Surah Al-Masad, led by Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Mechanical Engineering student Muhammad Nur Hazim Wafiuddin bin Haji Kamaruzaman, followed by Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Applied Mathematics and Economics graduate Muhammad Zawir Firdaus bin Zamrani reciting Takhtim and Doa Khatam.
It concluded with UBD Mosque imam Abdul Muhaimin bin Dr Haji Serbini reciting a Doa Selamat.
The guest of honour presented certificates and souvenirs to the male participants, while UTB Vice-Chancellor Datin Paduka Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, to the female participants.
Some 670 graduates will participate in the UTB Convocation Ceremony 2024 on Saturday at the Plenary Hall, International Convention Centre in Berakas. – Azlan Othman
