The Ministry of Defence (MinDef) and Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) held a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony in conjunction with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 77th birthday celebration at at Surau Al-Hikmah in Penanjong Garrison, Tutong District yesterday.
The Khatam Al-Quran ceremony was held as a special gift to His Majesty as an expression of gratitude and to pray to Allah the Almighty for His Majesty will continue to be blessed with prolonged longevity, good health and continue to reign Brunei Darussalam.
Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof attended the event and led the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah.
Commander of the RBAF Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, acting permanent secretary, service commanders and RBAF joint force commander, deputy permanent secretaries, as well as senior officers at the MinDef were also in attendance.
Other invited guests included Permanent Secretary (Municipal and District) at the Ministry of Home Affairs Abdul Walid bin Haji Matassan member of the Legislative Council Yang Berhormat Abdul Aziz bin Haji Hamdan, Acting Assistant Tutong District Officer Mohammad Adi Asnawi bin Haji Adanan as well as representatives from several departments under the Prime Minister’s Office, village heads and mosque imams around the Tutong.
The ceremony continued with Takhtim followed by Doa Khatam, Dikir Marhaban, Doa Tahlil and the presentation of tokens of appreciation to the participants.
The Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam was then read by officer from the RBAF Religious Directorate Captain Abdul Mu’iz bin Zulkifli to conclude the event. – Azlan Othman
