Some 454 soon-to-be graduates from Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) were honoured in a Khatam Al-Quran and Kesyukuran Ceremony in conjunction with the university’s 14th Hafl al-Takharruj.
Rector of UNISSA Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal attended the event on Wednesday at Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanal Bolkiah, Kampong Kiarong.
The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, led by the Rector. This was followed by a collective recitation of Surah Ad-Dhuha through Surah An-Naas, led by Muhammad Hilmi bin Muhammad Iskandar, a Bachelor of Usuluddin (Tafsir and Qiraat) undergraduate. The recitation concluded with the Takhtim.
The Khatam prayer was then recited by Muhd Auni Marzuqi bin Haji Anuar, another soon-to-be graduate in Bachelor of Usuluddin (Tafsir and Qiraat).
The event continued with the Dikir Marhaban and the UNISSA Thanksgiving prayer, led by Muhammad Adhwa Firdaus bin Mohamad Yusra, an undergraduate in Bachelor of Usuluddin (Aqidah and Dakwah).
The ceremony was further highlighted by the presentation of Khatam Al-Quran certificates and souvenirs to the soon-to-be graduates by the Rector.
The ceremony was part of the annual traditions held to enliven the Hafl Al-Takharruj celebration at UNISSA. It aims to promote the culture of Quranic recitation among students, in line with the national aspiration of making Brunei Darussalam a Zikir Nation.
Additionally, the event encourages student participation in religious activities, fostering these practices as part of their daily lives. – FADLEY FAISAL
