A Khatam Al-Quran and Doa Kesyukuran Ceremony for 320 Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) students in conjunction with the university’s 36th Convocation Ceremony was held at the Universiti Mosque on Thursday.
The students comprised of 65 males and 255 females.
Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohammad Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan attended as guest of honour.
The ceremony was an annual calendar organised by the Students Affairs Section of the Spiritual and Community Service Unit in collaboration with UBD’s Students Representative Council (MPP).
UB said the Khatam Al-Quran ceremony serves as gratitude for the success of intending graduates, and the ceremony is the culmination of the Quranic Journey Programme: Al-Quran Talaqqi Session for the final year students which has been carried out since October 2023.
The programme at the same time serves as a medium for the university to produce students literate in Al-Quran as well as to realise the vision of forming Al-Quran Generation and Zikir Nation, and produce skilled UBD students as well as support the university’s holistic development goal.
The ceremony commenced with mass recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and followed by the recitation of Surah Adh-Dhuhaa until Surah Al-Masad led by Haji Muhammad Izzuddin bin Haji Nor Hisham and later recitation of Takhtim.
Doa Khatam was read by Haji Muhammad Muinuddin bin Bahrin. The ceremony later witnessed the presentation of flower bouquets and souvenirs to the Al-Quran mentor and participants of Khatam Al-Quran by guest of honour.
The ceremony was also enlivened with the recital of Dikir Marhaban from UBD’s Dikir, Nasyid and Tausyeh Club. Doa Kesyukuran was read by Mosque Officer of Universiti Mosque, Haji Jalil bin Haji Putra.
