Some 98 students – 43 male and 55 female – participated in a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony in conjunction with Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) Convocation 2023 at the university’s mosque in Tungku Link.
Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid as Deputy Chair of UTB Council was the guest of honour.
UTB Vice Chancellor Datin Paduka Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman was also present.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the the minister, followed by recitation of Surah Ad-Duhaa until Surah Al-Masad by the participants, led by graduate Nabil Ridhwan bin Suhili @ Suhaili.
The event proceeded with Takhtim and Doa Khatam recited by graduate Awangku Ahmadi bin Pengiran Idrus.
Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda presented certificates and souvenirs to the male participants while Datin Paduka Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah presented to the female participants.
The ceremony concluded with a Doa Selamat read by bilal of the University Mosque Haji Jalil bin Haji Putra.
Some 397 graduates will be feted in a convocation ceremony on September 14 at the International Convention Centre, Berakas. – Rokiah Mahmud
