On May 24, 2024, a tree next to my house at Simpang 87-13, Kampong Sinarubai was struck by lightning, which in turn, hit a lamppost nearby. As a result, a few houses in the vicinity were without electricity for the night. Thankfully, the electrical supply was restored the following morning, and the damaged lamp fixture removed.
While we applaud the authorities for their swift action, the lack of a working lamppost means the area is now without light to keep wild animals, such as snakes and monitor lizards, from venturing out of their habitat and into our neighbourhood.
We contacted the authorities multiple times, and each time, we were told the matter had been resolved. On one occasion, we were even advised to send in an official letter requesting for a replacement lamp fixture.
Such conflicting information is why we are not sure how to proceed with this. It has been almost three months since the incident, and all we are seeking is some clarification regarding whether or not a new lamp fixture will be installed.
