Victims of a fire in Kampong Bolkiah ‘A’ received financial aid from zakat funds yesterday from the Department of Zakat, Waqaf and Baitulmal Management following the incident at the end of last year.
Fourteen recipients from five households each received BND200, in addition two children received an extra BND100 for schooling expenses.
The funds were allocated from the Asnaf Fakir Miskin Zakat Fund.
Yesterday, the donation was handed over by Acting Secretary of the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB) Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sabtu during a ceremony at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The victims are currently accommodated at housing provided by Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah. – Lyna Mohamad
