Kevin Lim becomes Brunei’s first pro boxer

Local boxer Kevin Lim etched his name in the record books as the first professional boxer in Brunei Darussalam after making his debut appearance in Cebu, the Philippines.

The boxing talent won his first professional bout by way of technical knockout in the third round against experienced opponent Syamsul Hidayat of Indonesia.

His landmark victory also drew positive response with one commentator stating he passed his pro debut fight with flying colours exhibiting calm and patience, while demonstrating his skills.

Kevin, a boxing coach at Jab Gym, has long been a fixture in the local amateur boxing scene.

He has worked his way from local and regional boxing competitions with many hours spent on relentless training demonstrating his unwavering passion for the sport.

“I am honoured to represent our country on this historic occasion,” said Kevin, reflecting on his achievement.

“Becoming the first professional boxer from our nation is not just a personal milestone but a dream come true,” he added.

With this achievement, Kevin hopes to inspire future generations of boxers to pursue their dreams fearlessly.

He also hopes for continued support to continue to develop the local boxing community in Brunei.
