The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) reminds the public to increase their vigilance during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.
“Ensure that you are accompanied if you need to withdraw cash from a bank counter or an ATM, especially for elderly citizens.
“If you plan to leave your house, make sure your gates, doors, and windows are securely closed and locked. Don’t leave tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, ladders, and the like outside your home, as they can be used by criminals for burglaries.
“The outside area of your home should always be well-lit. Don’t let the area or yard be overgrown with grass or bushes.
“Do not to leave valuables outside the home or in a vehicle. All valuable items should be kept in secure places and leave a message with your neighbours to observe your home while you are away as well as install security devices such as CCTV or alarm systems.
“Road users are urged to increase their vigilance while driving, obey traffic laws and regulations and following all road signs, especially traffic lights as well as having consideration for other road users.”
The public is also advised not to drive when feeling drowsy and to inspect the vehicle to ensure it is safe for the road.
The public is also urged to continue to provide assistance by reporting any criminal activities to the RBPF, either by contacting nearby police stations or by calling the police hotline at 993.
