Badminton players from team KB All Stars emerged as the overall champion of the six-day-long Kuala Belait Badminton Open Tournament.
The tournament, which began on May 20, saw six teams competing across five categories in a round robin format. Categories include men’s open double 1 to 3, women’s double and mixed double.
KB All Stars won all three of the men’s double category and the women’s double during the finals on May 29, and were crowned the overall champion. Team ACBA placed second with a sole win in the finals during the mixed doubles, followed by Team IBL in third place, having reached the tournament semi-finals. Other participating teams include Trible B, Anak Inchan and Sonic Boom.
Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Mohammad bin Abdullah @ Lim Swee Ann, who is also the Village Head of Kampong Bukit Sawat, presented prizes to the winners.
The tournament was organised by the Kampong Pandan ‘B’ Village Consultative Council to provide opportunities for badminton players in the district to compete, while promoting a healthy lifestyle. – Daniel Lim
