TOKYO (ANN/THE YOMIURI SHIMBUN) – Kawasaki is targeting practical application of its hydrogen motorcycle technology by the early 2030s. This innovative bike leverages Japan’s advanced internal combustion engine technology while emitting no carbon dioxide.
The public test run took place during the Suzuka 8 Hours Road Race, held from Friday through Sunday.
The hydrogen motorcycle, fitted with two 25-litre tanks, successfully completed a lap around the circuit to enthusiastic applause from the audience.
The Hydrogen Small Engine Technology Research Association, a coalition of motorcycle manufacturers and other organisations, is working on developing the necessary technology for hydrogen motorcycles and establishing standards for their use on public roads.
“We aim to achieve decarbonisation while preserving the engine’s character and sense of acceleration,” stated a Kawasaki executive officer.
