Kasuka & Ar Rawda eased to the second round of the Keputeraan Cup after topping Group ‘B’ during the preliminary round at the Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) Sports Complex on Sunday.
The 2023 Brunei Futsal League winners won all of their matches with a maximum of 15 points while BK FT B finished runners-up with nine points.
MS ABDB and Brunei 88 also advanced to the next round to represent teams in Group ‘B’.
The quartet will be joined by BK FT A, RBSM C, Titik Kota FT and S5R from Group ‘A’ in the next round.
Meanwhile, Sport Guy led the qualified teams in Group ‘C’ followed by guest team HLDM City from Lawas, Sarawak, SU FC and GG FT.
The Keputeraan Futsal Cup features 24 teams vying for top honours including elite teams from Sabah and Sarawak who join futsal competitions at a more advanced level. The championship is also being held as one of the events to enliven the 78th birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
The knock-out stage of the competition culminating in the final will be held at the same venue this weekend. – Fadhil Yunus
