Brunei Darussalam football club representative Kasuka FC will play against Myanmar’s Shan United in the qualifying playoff round of the much-anticipated 2024/25 ASEAN Club Championship Shopee Cup.
The first leg of the tie will be contested at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas on July 17 with the second leg to be held in Myanmar on July 24.
The winner of the two-legged qualifying playoff round will earn a spot in the group stage of the inaugural tournament in Group ‘A’ alongside Thailand’s BG Pathum United, Malaysia’s Terengganu FC, Indonesia’s PSM Makassar and Vietnam’s Dong A Thanh Hoa.
The winner of the qualifying playoff round between Laos’ Young Elephants and Cambodia’s Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng FC will complete the group stage in Group ‘A’.
In the complete six teams in Group ‘B’ comprise Thailand’s Buriram United FC, Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur City FC, Vietnam’s Cong An Hà Noi FC, Indonesia’s Borneo FC Samarinda, Philippines’ Kaya Iloilo and Singapore’s Lion City Sailors FC.
Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (FABD) President Haji Feisal bin Haji Eusoff Patail witnessed the official draw at the InterContinental Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam last Thursday.
ASEAN Football Federation President Major General Khiev Sameth in a speech during an official draw said, “It’s a pleasure to have completed the draw for the ASEAN Club Championship Shopee Cup season 2024/2025.”
He continued, “Looking at the fixtures, the region’s club championship promises to be an enthralling competition.”
“The Shopee Cup will give the best clubs from across our region the opportunity to test themselves against one another while also raising the level of the game.”
FABD Executive Committee member Pengiran Haji Mohd Waslimin bin Pengiran Setia Jaya Pengiran Haji Abdul Momin accompanied the FABD president.
Members of Kasuka FC’s management Haji Adee Suharde bin Haji Muhidin, Haji Mohammad Halimi bin Haji Abu Bakar and Mohammad Arif bin Mostapa were also present. – Fadhil Yunus
