Kasuka & Ar Rawda A emerged champions in the KPJ Miri Futsal Men’s Open Championship after defeating Kasuka & Ar Rawda B 3-1 in an all-Brunei final at the Miri Indoor Stadium in Sarawak, Malaysia recently.
Warung Futbol C came third after beating Sri Berjaya FT in a playoff.
Earlier in the group stages, both Kasuka teams advanced to the knock-out round after emerging as runners-up in their respective groups.
The Brunei-based outfits remain unscathed in the second round after edging Waibabau and AMFT, respectively in the second round.
In the quarterfinals, Kasuka & Ar Rawda A beat Puyu United FT while Kasuka & Ar Rawda B won by virtue of penalties against Nasi Ulam 883 FT.
Hopes of an all-Brunei final in an overseas tournament were realised as Kasuka & Ar Rawda A saw off Warung 1-0 and Kasuka & Ar Rawda B putting two past Sri Berjaya FT without reply in the semi-finals.
Thirty two teams took part in the tournament, including 23 teams from Miri and Bintulu, five teams from Marudi, three teams from Brunei Darussalam and one team from Baram.
